EEDge's aim is to make responsive human like manipulators for the subsea and nuclear decommissioning markets. The final goal of complete system is making remote manipulators which can touch type and juggle, although the commercial markets for these applications may be limited! It would bring a new meaning to the phrase 'working from home' if you operated an ROV/robot which was sat at your work desk typing on a computer. Probably slight overkill on the work from home concept!

Having recently completed the ROV Inspection and Event Logging Software & Hardware for Digital Edge Subsea, EEDge are working on a revolutionary new ROV interface. Multiple operators for ROV and manipulators will be a thing of the past.

A single operator will have complete control over flying the ROV and operating two manipulators simultaneously. In small ROV's this will be a complete diver replacement or Diver Replacement Vehicle (DRV) as we prefer to call it. The DRV will have the manovourbility, dexterity, speed and accuracy of a diver, but with depth capability, human safety and reduced overhead of an ROV.

EEDges real passion is in developing new cutting edge technology. Working on projects in industry constantly highlights real world problems and areas where great improvements could be made. With this unique insight and experience that traditional research institutions lack, we can focus our attention on products which industry really need.

EEDge plans to secure funding to carry out research and development projects in cutting edge technology, leading to commercially viable products which we will manufacture and distribute. Initial product research and development will aim at new systems for remote operated vehicles (ROVs) for the military, subsea, oil, gas and nuclear decommissioning markets.

As the search for oil and gas goes deeper and more remote the demand for systems which can operate in these environments can only increase. However with the costs of deploying boats for ROV systems ranging from £20,000 to £250,000 per day, there is great opportunity to save vast quantities of money by improving the speed and efficiency subsea tasks are carried out.
